I am looking for a lighting calculator to help me calculate how much light for my shop. So far the ones I have found on the Internet do it for tungsten or tubes. I am thinking about CFL. Some do it by wattage, which I would think is essentially worthless when using CFL. Also, I have about 15' to the rafters, and I want to find one that takes into account the distance of the light to the floor. Final question, and I have seen some threads on this, but what lumens do people recommend for a shop area....and a storage area (old tractors)?

Thanks in advance

Fellows, Thanks, but I do not see how either of them work for what I am looking----how many CFL to put in when placed at a certain height.

Thanks for trying

79BlackPearl,

Thanks, I had followed the Veno thread but not Delmarva's. I would like to hat they have done but looking for some idea for how many CLF for my shop. I see that Veno wished he had put in a couple more per grid.

I have a 40x72 building with 32x40 as shop and the rest storage (antique tractors) in Nebraska. I want the shop part well-lighted, but probably will put in fewer in the storage part. Also, want to see folks' experience with these CFL in colder weather. Veno in Texas. but I think Delmarva is east coast.

Thanks again.
