First the specs of my shop:

-40x60 Metal buildling (insulated with astro-foil)
-14' Sidewalls / 18' Center height
-Will be used for vehicle storage/restoration

My lighting idea:

-(21) 48" flourescent fixtures (2 bulb)
-Each bay is 20' and has 7 purlins so I figure one light per purlin per bay

Please let me know your opinions on this. If this too much, too little? Also, should each light be centered on the purlin? If so, this would leave 8' on either side and 16' between each fixture.
Thanks,
matt

Switch the 48" for 96" two tube fixtures. Much easier to install the tubes and the ends do not break as easy as the 48". Also I suggest painting the walls and ceiling white or other light color to reflect the light, except in welding areas, where you can experence welding burns on your eyes. I like my shop light enough that I can thread a needle anywhere in the room. You will find out, as you get older you need more light to see by than you use to.
Just my 2 cents worth
Mike
