Lighting Layout Opinion Needed

Does anyone have experience or knowledge on lighting layout? This is the suggested layout for 18’ X 46’ space with approximate 15’ ceiling height. I used software on Lithonia’s site.

(4) tube 4’ fixtures from (Home Depot) called for 8 fixtures - Lithonia Lighting Square White Basket 4-Bulb 32 Watt T8 Wraparound Lens Model # SB 4 32 120 1/4 GESB Internet # 100427376 Store SKU # 138636

Another plan for (2) tube 4' fixtures called for 14 fixtures – Lithonia Lighting Square White Basket 2-Bulb 32 Watt T8 Wraparound Lens Fixture Model # SB 2 32 120 GESB Internet # 100427375 Store SKU # 138633

Where on the Lithonia site did you find the design tool

Go HERE and download "Visual". The problem is that it's only good for a 30 day trial and I didn't realize it. I went to use it the other night again and my time was up. Did a full uninstall and cleared out everything - downloaded again and still no luck. Just know that you only have 30 days to work with it.

I've used that program in the past for estimating lighting needs and find it a good program. There's another program by Cooper Lighting, but it's been some time since I've used it.

There are several things to consider when designing a lighting layout. And I'm sure you noticed that when you set up your parameters in the Lithonia software. I suggest you keep all the parameters the same from one option to the next when switching to different light fixtures. Here are a few more suggestions:
* make sure your working plane is set at the correct height
* set the fixtures at the same elevation (check the software and try different heights)
* consider low bay lights and direct lighting over work benches.
* revisit you fc requirements (depends on what type of work you are going to perform in your shop). There are several sites on the web that have charts that will give you an idea of the fc requirements for different types of task.

Also, do a search on this site as there have been many discussions about lighting here.

BoydS, I certainly appreciate your thoughts and input. I have no real experience with lighting layout and logic doesn't always do the job. That is why I was hoping someone knowledgeable would review and comment.

Your input caused me to reevaluate what I had done and also do more research here GJ as well as the net. I reinstalled the software and spent some time making certain I understood what I was doing. I divided the area into two zones - one for parking (lower ceiling height) and one as a work area. Long story short everything has now changed. I'm attaching the new layouts, based on 8' tandem strip light with (4) 4' 32 watt T8 lamps. The lighting will now be very good
