Lighting layout suggestions

Below is a quick layout of my garage.

It's a simple 22x34 garage with a 16' door. The plan is to put a lift where shown. The garage has 10' high walls and middle has a 3' tall coffered area for extra vehicle clearance.

As indicated, the area in front of the lift will be used as car garage, and the remainder will be a workshop area.

Total area is ~700sf. I want it pretty well lit. I have a new, empty 100amp sub panel and it is all open right now, so I can do whatever I want. The garage will be sheetrocked with walls and ceilings painted effectively white.

I was thinking of dual bulb, 4' T8 fixtures as shown. That's my first draft.

Suggestions?

I made the layout in powerpoint, so it's easy to move things around.

Given the coffer, that looks OK. Think about how you will switch the lights - which really mean think about how you will work. I.e., doing work with the door open means the garage door will block lights, so put those on their own switch so you can turn them off.

That many lights over the car when on a lift will not be usefull, so another switch.

Also think about storage on the walls. Cabinets? Work benches? Personally, i'd rather have halogens over detailed work areas. Better light quality and if you use track lights, they can be aimed.

I will definitely split the lighting into at least three circuits. The wall opposite to the door will be where the work bench and tools will be.

I'm in the middle of building my garage too. I'm going to build up some shelves about 7'6" above the floor (10' ceiling) and 3' deep - which gives me enough depth to install some cabinets over the benches and have room with door swing to mount some track lights on the underside of the shelf. That will provide some directed light for work bench work on one side and wood working tools on the other side.

Though for the general lighting, I'm doing the simple edison bases and bulbs. 25 on 5' center grid.

There are some on line calculators to figure out the fixture count, but can't find the links at the moment.
