Thanks guys for the answers to my Help thread. I've never printed to a PDF before. See, You can teach an old dog new tricks. That being said I'm hoping that Plantonic will chime in.
i really want to use recessed can lights. I know it will take a lot. I'm just not a fan of box lights mounted to the ceiling. I am a general contractor so doing the work is no problem. And I'll get a break on the fixtures. Its the LED's that will cost.
I found the file light distribution diagram. I just cannot upload it yet. Its too big. Need to trim off some excess. This is its numbers from HD CER61431SWH30. At 1440 lumens Their finally getting the performance up. Let me know what you think

Impossible to help you without an IES file. Recessed can lights have light distribution all over the place. I wouldn't want to guess.
Suggestions:
#1 = Don't use can lights (cause I feel obligated to state the obvious)
#2 = Contact Commercial Electric and have them email you the IES file for the exact bulb/fixture you want to buy.
#3 = The bulb you're looking at is 3000K CCT. Lower CCTs look more natural at lower illuminance. Fine for a man cave, but workshop - not so much.

I'd walk away from the insert depicted above. It's not UL listed, it's uber expensive for what it is, and it still requires a downlight can to be installed. Also, it chaps my *** that HD doesn't tell you how many watts it uses, so you cant make an evaluation on it's efficiency.
