Hello all,

I have lurked here for a while. The site is great.

I am looking to upgrade the lighting in my two car attached garage. The garage is approximately 19.5' x 23' with finished drywall. I have painted the ceiling and walls bright white in a satin finish. I have two garage doors (7' x 8'). I have attached a sketch of my garage. I was wondering about which way to orient the lights. I am thinking of using 4' two bulb T8 fixtures. I would appreciate any input on placement and orientation.

Thanks,
Chris

How high is the ceiling? Major factor... Properly spaced and placed, orientation should not make much difference.

My new build is 20 x 22 and I have 3 rows of 3, 4' T-8 fixtures, plus two 4' T-8 hanging shop lights positioned over the workbench. You can never have too much light.

I would think you need at least (4) 4' fixtures. Home Depot has some 4' fixtures for $10 and you can buy a 10 pack of 40w bulbs for $10.

I would just make them at 5' and 15' front to back/side to side. Add more for workbench or laundry lighting as necessary.
