I'm in the planning stages of rewiring the entire garage and have come to the lighting portion. I'm leaning towards 8 4' T8 fixtures on two switches along with under cabinet lighting for two work benches and a laundry area. I've got two quick questions which I haven't been able to find through the search.

1. Do you guys (and girls) have any examples of quality, surface mount t8 fixtures?

2. What are my best options for under cabinet lighting? Fluorescents? Puck lights? LEDs?

Thanks for the help.

I used 48" T8's in my garage, you can see them in the video link below.

The garage is much brighter inside than the video shows, I used the 6500K tubes

Take the guided tour

The nicest thing I ever did for my garage was mounting two 4' twin tube fluorescent fixtures at the back of my garage, at each bay, in the corner where the ceiling (or just rafters in my case) meets the wall, tilted in 45 degrees. Makes it ever so easy to see under the hood! Okay, it doesn't fully replace a drop light, but for many tasks, it's all you need. I won't have a garage without them.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to check out the video at home later. I like the look of that light from Lowes.

Any ideas on under cabinet lights?

I don't have a suggestion on the under cabinet lights. I've got the old style single tube T8's under my cabinets. The new LED's and also the Halogen bulb types are kinda fancy but expensive. It's a personal choice based on taste. I don't care for the Halogen type personally.
