Lighting question

I need some advice on the amount of lights for my garage.

It's 32" wide x 22' deep. 12 Foot ceiling. (entire thing is sheetrocked)

I got what I believe is a good deal on 11 brand new Litonia MVOLT fixtures. (seen below) $150.00 total

I've read every thread on the site and finally decided on 4100K bulbs.

Garage has 1 8' x 9' door and 1 8' x 16'. (lift to go on smaller bay)

My plan is to run the lights in pairs of two
[front wall -2ft-fixture-2ft-fixture-2ft- back wall] (giving me 22')

The question is, do I do four strips across the ceiling or 5 strips? The electrician recommends 4, but I'm thinking 5 may be better. The other thing to note is that they are all on one switch. (if that matters)

I'd say 5. The 4 tube T8 fixture you pictured puts out about 10400 Lux. 150 Lux per sqft is about what’s needed for very detailed shop work. So, about 10 of those fixtures for your shop will give you a lot of light.

It may depend on how high you are mounting them. If mounting at the 12' ceiling mark they might not deliver enough light at floor level.
I have basically the same fixtures in a 28W X 38D shop with 10'+ ceilings. I did two fixtues in a row (spaced) front to back in each bay, a single in the middle then 3 horizontally in the back of the shop and one horizontal in the corner for a total of 9 fixtures. Just a thought.

I think your going to be happy with the 4100K bulbs....I think that is a nice color of light....

5-6 of those would be plenty of light....

I would set them up in 3 banks....

1. One strip between the 2 bays....another strip on the left side of the double bay....and one above the door to the house.....that would be your basic 'transition' light

2. Cluster above the double bay

3. Another one above the single bay

The rest of the lights....attic?

I plan to mount them right on the ceiling @ 12'

I was going to mount one row on each side of the smaller door, so they don't interfere with the roof of my car when it's on the lift. I planned to do two or three more rows spaced out across the bigger door. Ceiling height won't really be an issue on that side.

Seem like a solid plan?

I thnk that I got a good deal considering they are $100+ each online. I got all 11 for $150.00.
