lighting question

I just installed 6 of these:

They run off a 20 amp breaker with 12 gauge wire in series. They all light up and after about 5 seconds the last one in the series goes out. Would it be a bad ballast or could something else be causing the problem?

Try swapping bulbs from another unit and see what happens. Likely a bad ballast.

^^what he said. Also turn them off for a few seconds (like 20) and then back on again. Do they all come on? No?...recheck wire nut connections and verify wires at sockets are tight and well connected. No? Verify no pinched wires. No? ...Check that the mounting screw on the ballast foot into the fixture body is tight. No?...take it back to HD.

Make sure the metal at the ground screw in each fixture is scraped clean of paint for a good connection. I have seen poor grounds mess with the operation of flo lights.

You could have had a wire back out of a wire nut as you connected them, might just be touching and no more. As noted above, double check all wire nut connections.

** wired in series ** ............ Nooooo........ They are wired parallel (I hope)..... black to black, white to white, all the way thru. You can say they are "daisy chained" from one to the other, but series is what you have in Christmas lights when one goes out, they all go out.

thanks for the reply's...haven't been able to get back out there yet, but will check everything you all noted. And yes in parallel .....daisy chained, thanks for the clarification The weird thing is i only had 2 bulbs and put them in the last light and it worked fine for several days....it only acted up when i installed all the bulbs?

I used receptacles for each light. When I added a ceiling fan, I just plugged it in.
