Issue: I fed a double duplex receptacle outlet from the light switch.

was working fine until i tried putting the wires back in the switch box and accidently nipped the black pigtail wire.... :lol_hitti so i wrapped in electrical tape,
and put it back together.Now its working fine.

I come back 2 weeks later and there is no power coming in from the hot wire,into the light switch..(unless my tester is dead) thus no light in the room.It goes on and off.

:confused::headscrat:confused:

WTF WTf WTF :shocking:

Is the switch in the garage? Possibly the circuit leading to the switch is on a GFCI plug or circuit. Check for GFCI plugs and press the TEST button. If nothing clicks, the outlet has tripped - try pressing reset. If there's a short, it won't "re-latch".

GFCI plugs can "wear out" in my experience and trip for no apparent reason. I had one like this in my garden shed years ago that fed a plug on the outside of the shed with nothing attached. Periodically, I'd plug something in to the outside plug and get no joy. Resetting the GFCI inside the shed was always the solution. I eventually tired of this dance and replaced the outlet - no problems in nearly 10 years.

Of course, maybe there's a breaker tripped?

You need to look "upstream" of the switch to see why voltage isn't making it that far.
