lights won't hang straight

I recent bought a dozen of these lights for my 24x30 garage.

It's a 4 foot LED shop light with a conventional wall plug and a receptacle on one end that allows up to 4 lights to be connected together - linkable as they call it.

30 watt, 3000 lumen, 2 lbs

I felt the price was reasonable for the light output for my space.
They come with 6" long cables with a loop on one end to attach to a hook and an S-hook on the other end to attach to the fixture itself. They also offer the option to attach directly to the wall or ceiling.

I have 12 foot ceilings, so originally, I though I would get longer cables or a short section of chain to drop them down to about 10 feet, but I really just wanted to get them hanging and plugged in so I could see if I needed it.

I don't NEED to drop them down lower, but I would like to. The light is adequate, but I have an unanticipated problem and it's so simple it's stupid.
They don't hang straight. The good news is they are very light - 2 lbs. The bad news is they are very light and don't hang straight. Any stiffness in the cord, the S-hook not engaging in the slot exactly right, etc causes it to hang catty-wampus, so the light doesn't shine straight down.

Any ideas? (other than attaching a 5 lb weight to each light)

I think you are stuck playing with the chains and hooks to get them right. On the cord, I would carefully use a heat gun to relax then in the proper position. Carefully.

Attach your hang chains so that the tops are a foot closer together than the connections at the lamp housing.

Or flush mount them to the ceiling. See if you still achieve the same light level at your working plane.

That problem would irritate me, too... But if they are that light in weight, won't they swing like crazy when a breeze blows through your garage?

How about some solid standoffs, I'm thinking curtain rod or wardrobe hanging rod (although it's hollow these days) with the little flanges. Screw or pop rivet together.

This thread reminds me of a guy I used to work with that had pretty bad OCD. He had to have all of the books on this bookshelves lined up perfectly with the edge of the bookshelf they were on.

So of course any time he was away from his desk someone would go over and push one or two of his books in by about a quarter inch or so. Then we would wait for the guy to come back and get all kinds of frustrated and start cursing about his books.

Now, just to be fair, this was the same guy who would pull jokes on just about everyone in our room. So he was not immune to getting it put back on him. It was just funny to see how mad he would get over a book being a quarter inch off on a shelf.
