I am new to this forum also, searching for ideas for my 30x40 build.
From what I have seen here, the best method may be to look over the Gallery forum and see what you like and what others have done.
Maybe start taking notes of things you would like included on yours. Then if you come up with a specific question about an item, ask here.
As for the hoist, there was recently a thread in one of the gallery items where the poster had designed a hoist to lift boats off and on trailers, along with a other of really nice custom fab work. I am sure there are many others...
