Been wanting a MIG machine for the ease of it's point and shoot. Is it worth it for this price? It has the shielding gas hook up, not the flux core one.

I already have an AHP Alpha Tig 200, and don't think I have turned that up past 120 amps...so the likely hood of needing a 220 machine isn't their currently, and I have the tig/stick on my AHP if I do need it.

Let me know what you would do.

I think that weldpak 140 is close to retail...
not worth IMO... $250 maybe. but most likely that sellers expects a hackle and wants $300.
you can get new around $400 off ebay...

But the that machine can do flux core or gas mig... the differences is only the polarity of the gun and the ground.... So it have gauges and stuff , if you want to flux core, just switch the polarity and change the consumables. .... instruction is in the manual.

They are a good machine to 1/8 and 023 wire. Handy on 120v on occasion. Makes very light sheet fast and easy. A 240v is 2x if a guy is doing any heavier work, a limited use to 1/4.

I've had a Lincoln Pro-Mig140 for something like 6 years now and it works great for light work and 1/8" stock. The manual says you can weld up to 1/4" stock but it takes two passes. You can use either shielding gas or flux core wire; just swap the wire roll, change the polarity of the wires.

While the 140 will work on a 15A 120v circuit, a 20 dedicated circuit is recommended. Also the gauge set that came with my 140 isn't the greatest. Get a good set of gauges if you are going to use C-25 gas.

GG, I have had this model for around two years.works great. I even made flux core welds that look great.I use .030 wire. Some may ***** about this size but for my usage it is ideal.I purchased mine from Lows along with my military discount was just over $325.I'm now hooked up with the bottle 75/25 and my welds are very good.
Like you I have the Alpha ST 160.I need practice with this. Also have a Lotos plasma cutter.Works great. Sorry for getting off the main topic, Ken
