Lincoln 93642 help

recently rebuilt pump and was reassembling. Whats the technique for compressing the spring over the pump assembly? Special tool? thanks

I use a small pair of vise grips, set them just under the size of the piston.

Install all components, leave the snap ring/clip off.

Open the pliers up, center it on assembly and Push down giving yourself some clearance to install the ring, lock the pliers, install the ring, carefully remove the pliers.
