I may have the opportunity to purchase a Lincoln 225 arc welder from my cousin. He hasn't mentioned a price yet, but I don't want to low-ball him. I want the price to be fair to both of us, maybe weighted a little in his favor.

What are these things selling for in your area?

Have seen people around here asking $75 for a scruffy looking one to $300 for something looking like new. That is for the 225AC version...they ask more for the AC/DC version. Look at new ones, I'd go about half for a good used one.

I understand that the older ones are better quality (internally).

Surprisingly little. Check your local Kijiji, Craig's List, etc. Depending on the age and condition I've seen them generally from $100 to $250.

But I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for one.

The older ones have a white amperage select handle.

Yea around 100-125 unless he has upgraded to longer leads then the price would go up.

Agree $100 is fair price for an AC only model. If AC/DC then it is worth more like $250-300.

I still remember back in the day when these could be purchased all over town for $225.00 new. I bought my AC unit used from my neighbor for $80.00 and the condition was like new.
This was several decades ago and it still works great.

I bought a new one in about 1970 for $98. Worked fine when I sold it in 2008 for $100.

Usually $100-150 depending on it's condition. Like mentioned above, check out CL in your area and see what they are going for.

if its a 235ac about $100

if its a 235ac-dc about $200. but nothing over $200

The dc is a way better machine

I picked up this Lincoln AC/DC unit and 24" Diamond for $110.00 just cause the price was right. They are out there if you're quick and not in a hurry.
