My local Lowes has their Lincoln Electric Welders on clearance.

The Pro Mig 125 is currently $323, I think normally they are about $400

The Pro Mig 180 is currently $533, normally $669.

A lot of the welding accessories are also on clearance so if you already have a LE welder and need some tips, nozzle, or wire, they are marked down also.

I asked the manager if he could mark down the Pro Mig 180 some more and he sold it to me for $480. It never hurts to ask for a bigger discount on clearance items. So I guess I got about a $200 discount. Not bad.

Also, if you have a Lowes credit card, you can get another %5 off or 6 months no interest.

As always, YMMV

Dang, I wish the timing on this was better, but $10k towards lawyers has killed the toy fund...

that is good. Those are prices that would be a good deal on eBay to buy... so nice from the store with an easy warranty story.

Thanks, Avi8or, I just ordered one myself! Found a 10% coupon, so I got it for the same price you did. I will be picking it up in store on Saturday. What accessories, if any, do you think are worth picking up from Lowes? Any deals jump out at you?

The welding cart is also about 20%off right now and eventually get marked down some more. I'm not sure which welding cart I'm going to go with yet. I'll probly pick up some more tips, and an extra gun nozzle but I'll wait until they get marked down to about 75% off.

Thanks for the post. I've been eyeing a 125 on ebay, but they seem to go for about 100 more. found a 10% coupon to use as well. Got mine for $323.55 out the door.

I can't find a the 180 at any local Lowes or on the website. I only see the 125 or the 140. Did someone see the 180 on the website, and do you have a link? Thanks.

Back to full price :(

These will not go "back to full price" They are on clearance. However, your local Lowes might not have them on clearance. I have two local Lowes, both are about 15min each direction. One has them on clearance, the other does not. I have no idea how Lowes decides the mark down schedule on this stuff, sometimes it makes no sense. I would suggest checking some of the other Lowes in your area to see if maybe they have the welders on clearance. You might have to drive farther but it might be worth saving $200.

I saw that the OP was in Atlanta, so I changed my zip cope on the Lowe's site. Sure enough, $535. Even with the 10% off coupon, by the time I add tax and shipping I think it was $610.
I searched some random locations and no where within driving distance of me are they on sale. I also noticed some differing sale prices. I saw some, I think in Kentucky that were on sale in the low 600's.

Update to my previous post.....I have found several stores within driving distance that have them, but only one that has them for $535. It's about a 2 hour drive. Now I have to decide if it's worth driving to the north side of Detroit to get one. I am in Toledo.

EDIT: Probably not the right place to ask, but is it worth the drive to upgrade from my 110V Craftsman mig welder?

It would be a great upgrade. What I would do first though, is print off the Lowes page that shows it at the clearance price and take it to the store near you. Show it to the manager and see if they will match it.

The 180 is down to $460.60 at some stores. I got the last one in Oaks, PA but it looks like Hatfield, PA has 2 left at that price according to the web for anyone looking at near that store.

Is the 125 large enough to weld a pickup truck frame? That would be about the biggest job I would use it for.

I don't own a welder so this might be my first one. I've welded before but someone had already set it up for the task.

I'd get the 180 for that. Depending on the year of this truck, they were anywhere from 3/16 to 1/4" thick, I wouldn't want to do something safety wise with a welder thats note quite rated for that.

Well, I stopped by the nearest Lowes on the way home and the 125 was on clearance for the price above. I inquired about the 180 because there wasn't even a tag on the shelf. Turns out they never carried the 180. Had them check the next 2 closest stores and they never carried them either.

I called a Lowes I had been to previously that's about an hour away. They had 3 in stock for $522. This is the same Lowes that I vowed never to go to again because they would not come down on the last 2 knipex pliers left in the store. They were only $2 off...:headscrat

I'll be getting the 180 tomorrow. Tell me what you want for pictures if you want to try to price match at your store.

Well, I got it but I don't think it was worth the hassle.

Long story short...I go to put the welder in the cart but there is no clearence tag. I find the guy I talked to on the phone yesterday and he basically tells me he must've entered a wrong number or something and that they weren't on clearence. I had made it clear to him no less than 5 times yesterday that I was travelling a significant distance and he better be sure that he was correct on price and inventory.

I stated that the situation was not good for either one of us at the moment (his feelings were about to be executed by firing squad) so he said he would talk to the manager. I showed the manager the picture of the sticker in this thread and he agreed to match it for the $535 after a heated debate, but not the $522 like I was told. By this point I felt like I had haggled with a salesman over a new car all day and slight compromise seemed to be the best outcome. The ordeal took well over an hour and that didn't include checkout.

I like my 3 local stores, but that one is a joke. Never again...and I mean it this time.

I had tried to order online as I also had a coupon but none of the stores in my area at the time, including this one, showed as having any in stock.

My buddy will be over in a couple of weeks to run some 220 in the garage for me. All the 110 outlets are also going on their own circuit. I can't run the compressor if the Ol'' Lady is using the hair dryer with the lights on because the garage outlets are tied into the master bath.

The wait is gonna be agonizing.

Nice buy man, yea Lowes is a hit or miss.

Thanks.

I work at lowes in tools

I bought the 180 a few years back when it went on clearance from our store for $167(75% off)

A couple weeks ago we had the 125 on clearance and I bought the display for a friend for $79 (80% off)

I hope to get the 140 when the display is the only thing left for another friend at the same discount

I picked up this Lincoln Handy Core welder (110V / 90A) at Princess Auto for $100 last year. Someone had returned it and it was discounted because a few of the cheap extras that usually come with a welder were missing. I think I missed out on a chipping hammer and a hand held face mask which didn't bother me at all. Lowe's sells a similar unit for just under $400 but I never would have bought it for that price.

I also have a Lincoln 225 stick welder, a Lincoln 180 mig and a Lincoln spool gun as well as O/A and spot welding equipment. For minor fabrication and jobs that don't involve sheet metal I often use the one pictured below. I'm surprised by how well it works.

Mine says $293. Just keep changing your store till it changes the price. I had to change to 4-5 different stores before I got the nailing kit.

I've wanted a small welder to learn on for a long time. How good of a deal is this one? I can get it for $279 shipped with my 10% off code.

I have the Pro-Core 100, which is an older version of this. My 1st welder was a 90A HF flux core. It sat for about 2 years after I tried it once (completely useless welds). I picked up the 100 and have been in love with it ever since.
For a little portable flux core it is leaps and bounds over the HF welder. Much easier to learn on, although it is limited in what it can do compared to larger gas welders. Great hobby welder though IMO.

^ this. I tried switching "my store" to the other local Lowes and the price did go up to $419. I guess it's site specific. :dunno:

I think you have to be fairly close to get them to ship it though. Mine kept coming up with an error when I was putting my sisters zip in Michigan.. Not positive though, could have been another problem..

What do you guys think is the better machine/value, the Lincoln, or the Hobart that is on sale at Tractor Supply Store...? The Hobart 140 is on sale at TSC for $450. I guess the Hobart would compare to the Lincoln 140 that is not on sale at Lowes. I could get the Lincoln 125 for around $335

I know Lincoln has a good name. My grandfather, and father had Lincoln welders, but I'm not sure at this price point if they are good, or just carry the name on a POS made in China unit...?

Is getting the higher amp machine (Lincoln, or Hobart) worth spending the extra dough. I'd be using it for home shop fabrication, nothing too heavy duty, but you never know... I'm OK with spending a little more now, so I don't have to buy another unit down the road. On the other hand, I don't wnat to spend an extra $150 if I don't have to...

Thanks for the advice.

I have always been under the impression that Lincoln is equal to Miller and Hobarts are actually rebadged Millers with some of the internals on the Hobart being plastic instead of metal like on the equivalent Miller machine.
