I'm looking to buy a used Lincoln idealarc 250, but i'm unsure of which series is constant current high frequency for scratch start tig welding? I remember using a Lincoln idealarc 250 while in welding school in 2007 that was brand new. I used that welding machine for stick and tig. Do all of idealarc 250 machines already have cc hf built in to them? thanks in advance for any advice and expertise.

I think the hf is a separate attachment. My machine is just ac, dc and dc reverse.

My guess is no not all Idealarc 250 have CC. I doubt the older machines (Tombstone Idealarc 250 & Idealarc 250/250) have it.

The idealarc 250 model that i'm looking to buy has constant current on the faceplate but there's no indication for high frequency. I also looked to see if they have an arc stabilizer, high frequency box as an accessory but didn't see one available for the idealarc 250.

Idealarc 250 AC-DC was the best constant current machine I ever used. Had to leave it behind when I moved to Texas. For high freq you need to add a separate box.

I just bought one this week for $125 and it came with the high frequency arc stabilizer. I paid for the machine without it and when I came back to pick it up the guy said this goes with it, referring to the HF. Awesome! I am restoring this for resale but it should make selling it much easier. These welders are amazing but it seems to me they can be difficult to sell despite being worlds better than the little Lincoln 225's.
