linde hda200 post purge question

I have a linde hda200, when I hit the foot pedal to tig, no gas, the only way I can get a flow of gas is to mess with the post purge on the timer and set it to run all the time and use my on/off on my torch.. anyone else ever had this problem? the foot pedal is an old arctron.
