Considering a DiamondAir unit. The manual states that refrigerant capacities and condenser pre-charge are all based upon 25' of line set. They have a table for the extra R410a needed per length of extra line. Now, this unit is also offered with a 16' line set. The manual says nothing about refrigerant adjustment for less than 25' of line set.

Is this an issue or should I just get 25' and coil it?

Also, this is not a DYI unit, I don't mind flaring and I have a vacuum pump and gauge set.

I would also assume that a Daikin unit would be preferable over the DiamondAir (Chinese)

With mini-splits if the manuf says 25’ it can handle shorter lengths without issue, so no problem for you. BUT, check to see if there is a minimum length. To short a line is a problem for the compressor.

You don't have to recover any refrigerant if you have less than 25 ft.

The minimum lineset lenght is often 8-10 ft but from my experience a shorter lineset is not an issue at all... As short as 2 ft (basically from the wall unit directly through the wall into the outside unit) is not even a problem, with systems running flawlessly for 15+ years.

Justin. While it may work for you the difference is that shold something go wrong with a very short line set system you have the know-how to repair and may even be able to finesse warranty coverage. For most of us, ignoring the factory spec is not a good idea on this.

I've been doing this for 12+ years and have worked on hundreds of mini-splits, dozens with very short linesets. The only issue has to do with the compressor noise resonating through the copper pipes sometimes.

That being said, people are free to follow each and every recommendation if that's what they prefer. :)
