Line Voltage Thermostat

Wiring a line voltage thermostat to open and close a ceiling vent in a greenhouse. I ran a 20 amp circuit that will have the line voltage thermostats for ceiling vent, cooler, and heater control (natural gas heater).

The ceiling vent motor draws 2 amps. What gauge wire do I need to run from the thermostat to the vent motor? Does it need to be 12 gauge per the circuit size or only what the thermostat is rated at which is 10 amps. Wires will be in a combination of in wall and conduit.

Thanks for any advice.
