Does anyone recognize the numer 71 on these 7" Linesman Pliers to be a brand name or just a no name product? Thanks.

My guess, based on the appearance and the the wire cutting slots on the sides and handle ends that look like they are screwdriver and awl tips would be early Utica made.

Utica seems most likely, but if not, maybe look into a Smith & Hemenway plier (Red Devil or IMCO (Irvington Mfg. Co)) with "Button" cutting slots on the sides. I'm having no luck with a 71 model number though.
