Hey guys. I did a search on linoleum and came up with 1 thread that vaguely mentions it for a very small garage. It seams to me that linoleum bonded to a concrete floor may be a very workable solution.

From what I have seen it is very tough will take dropping tools and jacking cars. Does anyone have any experience.

I will be looking for a solution for my 30x48' garage/machine shop. I like Jacks solution from the 12 gauge garage using porcelain tiles but I'm still a bit skeptical.

I did my last garage with the Armorpoxie military coating which really looked good and appeared to be very tough but unfortunately I moved out 6 months later and never got to see how it held up.

True linoleum is a sheet product that usually comes in 6' widths. It is VERY expensive, more than a cheap porcelain tile even.

Do you mean a regular sheet vinyl product? This is one of the more inexpensive floorcoverings. There are felt back sheet vinyl products and newer fiberglassed backed vinyl. Felt back is fully glued, while some fiberglass products can be perimeter glued.

I don't think either one are going to work in a garage. Anything heavy is going to dig in, gouge and/or tear the vinyl. Tires, anything petro will stain it.

Now if you are talking VCT tiles, that is a cheap alternative to porcelain, and will hold up fairly well.

vinly slick as wet owl **** on a banana peel. will stain as mentioned above. you do not want any perimter glued vinyl in a shop if you go that route. vct is a nice option. if you have the money check out nafco(tarkett) flooring. youll spend a few bucks a foot on it, but it lays just like vct and gives a tile appearance.

I did Tarkett in my old kitchen and was very happy with it. Not sure how it would hold up in the garage.

First post to this forum, looks like a great site...

I have put Armstrong Commercial 12" sq tiles with the adhesive you need to trowel on in two garages. I would not do it a third time based on experience and use.
If you live in an area prone to rain and snow and use your garage to park daily drivers the tiles will lift. If you don't keep the polished, the tiles will pull oils out of the tires and will not go away.
With that said, it looks great and is quite durable. If you damage on its easy to replace. But very slippery when wet...hope it helps.
