The panel is about 8 foot from where I want to place the mini split, because it is in sight there is no disconnect, can I run the liquid tight conduit (same stuff that made the 6 foot long whips) and run 8-9 feet to the air conditioner?

My understanding is that as long as it is supported/ mounted less than 12" from the panel/box and then mounted less than every 36" there is no restrictions on the length of these conduits.

Yes, not sure on the 3/8 though. I've never seen 3/8 liquid tite

Liquid tite looks bad. Emt, compression fittings and a rigid coupling and transition to liquid tite close to the unit.

Compression fittings must be listed as raintite in order to be used outdoors, plain old compression is a premium indoor fitting.

How do you guys feel about the non-metallic liquidtite versus the stuff with the metallic liquidtite? I always use the metallic, rationalizing it that it is subject to abuse just by virtue of people walking around it, landscapers, etc.

Thoughts?

There is this in some codes:
Liquid-tight flexible nonmetallic conduit without integral reinforcement within the conduit wall shall not exceed 6 feet in length.

I like the NM sealtite over the metallic sealtite as it's easier to use & takes abuse better.
