I have 3 random Lisle torx sockets in my box, don't know where they came from, but 2 of them are twisted. The only one not twisted is the T60.

For that reason, I'm out.

If I only had 50 cents into them I probably wouldn't complain.

Luckily he got them for free.......

I have 3 here on my desk that I got back as replacements
no I dont think the Sears are any better
took the Blazer to Sears and removed the roof rack in the parking lot
took 3 of them to get all 8 screws out
1 broke instantly the other 2 twisted. So I exchanged all the bad ones then and there.
Will most likely return the full set since I didnt use the replacement one and they are worse than the Lisles.

I have twisted a few Lisle torx bits, and don't have much faith in anything they put out. I've used older craftsman torx drivers for the last 15 years or so, haven't broken or twisted one yet. If/when I damage one I will likely replace the set, probably with SK off amazon.

There's an idea! Throw all your cheap, **** tools in the truck, drive down to your local Sears or HF (depending which cheap, **** tools you own) and do the repairs right there in the parking lot. This way you can run in and exchange the tools as they break.

Disclaimer - this is meant to be comical.

Love Lisle for made in the USA, own a lot of their stuff. Their torx bits though can not drive a 3 inch T25 screw into foam board. I wish I was joking but they really arent a good buy.

Since it's not my day job, I don't buy a lot of truck brand stuff. However, I contend that by the time you break, stop job, go exchange and repeat (endlessly), Torx bits are the one tool where I will never buy anything but Snap-On again, period.

I was trying to tighten the screw on a flex head ratchet, As I was tightening it I said to myself wow that was really loose it was like a whole turn and a half loose. Come to find out the screw never budged, it was the Lisle torx bit that was moving not the ratchet screw. Junk. Unfortunately I have several sets, since then I have switched to VIM or Snap On.

This seems universal. I broke all 6 points off the T40 in my set the first time I used it. I never trusted that bit set again, and the experience put me off all Lisle tools.

I've seen a bunch of different threads on here about torx bits. I think it's a regular GJ answer that Snap On or VIM are the go to every time. I have a Snap On set that are great. They replaced a set of Craftsman that were ****. Since then after hearing all the hype about VIM I've been considering checking them out. Especially for a set for my truck for work.

And I think Lisle makes some decent stuff otherwise.

Mine broke the first day I used them.

Ouch, I bought a set of metric and sae Lisle 3/8 drive allen head sockets with the removable bits...was that a bad choice? I bought them because, you know, made in America. Should I have just bought Koken or KTC?

I like that the Lisle set is still made in the USA but I swear they are made out of butter. I've stripped, twisted and broken so many of them, definitely learned that torx bits are one thing you can't go cheap on

I would say yes to all of the above...

I beleive those hex bit sockets are a step up from the one-piece torx sockets.

On their two piece "Super Torx" sockets, Lisle advertises the bits as 20% stronger than the one-piece design.

I've had good luck so far with the Lisle two piece torx and hex bits, however they are in my portable kit and don't get used as much as the Snappy and Mac bits in my box in the garage. For what little I paid for them they serve their purpose just fine.
