These are stores I go to, and my impressions of their service. What about y'all?

Huntsville TX, my hometown:

Home Depot
- 10,000 clerks all over you if you know what you want, if you need help they gone, stone countertop service is great though
several auto parts franchise houses - service decent, they leave you alone til you need help
Reliable Auto Parts - great knowledgeable "local flavor" service, limited tools but if they don't have it they'll try to get it
Tractor Supply - terrible service, I only go there if I have to, and I cuss myself afterwards and swear never again
Walker Co. Ace Hardware - great knowledgeable "local flavor" service
Fastenal - disinterested service but oddly not bad
Coburns Plumbing - great knowledgeable service/advice/help
Harbor Freight - nuff said

Willis TX 25 miles away:

D&M Hardware
- good knowledgeable service, as close to an old time hardware store as I've found

Conroe TX 30 miles away:

Northern tool
- good service
Grainger - good service
Lowes - service is decent

Performance Line tools just outside of Pontiac Michigan.
They were originally Crazy Benzies tools.
I live in Oregon but have family in Michigan so I'm back there a few times a year with A Ford F350.
Why travel empty?Great prices for name brand tools and really helpfull staff.

Idaho Tool and Equipment - Excellent customer service

Plenty of US made hand tools in stock (SK, Wright, Proto)
Also noticed a growing selection of Wera during my last visit to go with the Knipex pliers.
It's too bad they don't sell on-line.

Coeur D Alene power tool. Great place with lots of tools, though the last time I bought anything there was when I bought my David White AL-600 optical level in the early 1990s. I also buy tools from Albeni Falls building supply. Great place with knowlegable folks. To keep myself in American made tools these days, I go to Ebay often for vintage, because I absolutely refuse to buy tools made in china.

Bob's Tools in Des Moines, IA.

They stock a lot of American tools, including Wright, for reasonable prices and will match any local competitor's price.

Wow, who saw this coming? :)

I have gotten good CS at the HF stores I shop, real good at the new one in Warsaw.

I don't really like the area Home Depot at all, since the helps acts put out, I had the nerve to bother them, while they are sitting around BSing.

Menards and Lowes great , good and bad.

Ace Hardware very good, at the local store.

DoItBest good and bad at the local store.
