Hi everyone,

Does anyone on here have the rebuild manual for a Lister D engine?

And do you know of any problems I need to look out for on them?

I am not sure of the year yet as I am looking at it later today, but do know the magneto is still connected to it.

Any help really appreciated

🤓

Thanks for the link.
I will contact them but was hoping someone had a pdf version of it they could email me.
I will keep in looking on the internet and see if I can find a free version, as most of them I have seen so far you have to pay for.

I can never date those engines. They made basically the same engine for decades, and probably still offer something similar! I still see quite a few of those working, often on portable pumps or farm equipment, so I suspect a manual shouldn’t be too tricky to find! Don’t expect something the size of ‘Machinery’s Handbook’ though...!

Dorset. England.
One of the most common stationery engines ever produced. The internet will have all the info you could need, just need to look around a bit.
Likely that a copy is still being made in Inda somewhere, they do several of the common British designs.

“I can never date those engines.”
Every engine has a serial number, and you just find out what number yours is see where it fits between the two different numbers for each year start and end.
Mine comes in as a 1936 engine.

I have cleaned off the electrical system and now have spark from the magneto, but filled it with petrol and it came out everywhere on the carburetor. So now are taking this apart to find all the leaks.

It was trying to start before the petrol leaks, I was getting puffs out the exhaust, so I have hope for the engine.

I will try and ost pictures when it’s done with the steps I had to take.
