So I still like my 30 pound Schumacher jump pack.......lugging it around does get old

The small compact new lithium packs like the Noco are intriguing

Seems like Noco products are solid, but are there other options, maybe with better features or a better price tag?

I have a Noco and a Gooloo; they both seem the same level of performance to me. Project Farm did a test on these a few years ago, and there's been several threads on them here. As usual here, there's varying opinions as someone's had a bad experience with every brand.

I have the NOCO GB150. Bought it 12/17. It lives under the back seat of my Jeep outside in the cold, the heat, the humidity. I bring it inside twice a year to top off the charge. Hasn't failed me yet.

I have the HD version of the Antigravity jump pack. In fact I have 4, one in each car.

They hold the charge for a long time and they have never failed to jump start the car I am trying to start.

I have also used to to charge phones on long trips and comes with all the attachments to charge at home or on the car.

I like the Topdon JS3000. One thing for sure, get one that can activate manually if battery voltage is too low to detect. A lot of the cheapest units won't do anything on a dead battery because they won't even turn on.
Otherwise the JNC660 lead acid pack is heavy and big, but no worries of safety issues keeping it from working. Hook it up, it works.
I used the JNC660 twice in the last week and it worked really good.

Tons of them on the market, especially the flood of **** on Amazon. I did get family members a decent one from Amazon 1 yr ago, think around $80 each (Prime stated cost anyway) just for typical backup use and they seem to be holding up fine. One has been used countless times for jump starting as well as tire inflating. Can find/list the brand if needed.

Decided for myself I'd invest in this one. Found it a bit cheaper and the build quality/features is quite good for being so compact.

I had one it swelled up in my car and I threw it away never used it and never needed it anyway so didn’t buy a replacement

if somebody made one that used m12 or m18 batteries I’d buy it because I already got the batteries and know there good and could warranty the batteries if they swelled and could power a portable compressor or emergency light for the car

I recall someone posting an M18 based jump pack recently, but even without the battery it was not cheaper than a jump pack. Was within the last 6 months of I remember correctly.

I’m worried the cheap jump pack going to explode one day in the summer. Not real worried about m18 batteries though tbh

I don’t usually leave mine in cars for extended periods, but understand that is common so it is a legitimate concern. Winter is harder on batteries in New England where I live.

The M18 solution seems like a great idea, but I don’t know how an M18 battery does after being in a car at -15F for a week. I keep my batteries warm, at least to start with, though some have been out for a few hours at 20F and worked fine. I don’t have any knowledge about their heat capability but I am sure many M18 tools and batteries have spent days in tradesmen’s vehicles in AZ, NM, FL, TX and other hot climates so that end of the range should be fine.

On a whim, I found a $25 off coupon for an off brand, lithium jump pack on Amazon.

It was already on a lightning sale for half off and with the coupon it was like $27!

4000 AMP
59.20 amp hours
400 lumen led light
2 year warranty

I'll give some reviews when it comes in this coming week

Some things are worth paying for, just to get some peace of mind (which is hopefully well-deserved). I’m surprised / disappointed at the number of electrical components (switches, etc) sold on Amazon that don’t have a UL listing. I guess most people don’t know and Amazon doesn’t care.

Who's lithium packs are UL Certified?

Noco:

Q: Unit states “confirms to ul std 2743”. this is not the same as being ul certified/listed because ul logo is missing. clarification is needed??
Answer this question

A: NOCO Boosts are tested for UL standards through ETL, a third party UL testing company, and carries the ETL marking to reflect that the unit conforms to UL standards.

FWIW my comment about UL was regarding wired electrical devices, not the jump box. It was just an example of how people do not question what they buy on Amazon ("but it was cheap 🤣")

With all of the counterfeit batteries, etc, sold on Amazon, and elsewhere, do you really think a UL marking really means anything anymore when you buy online from Amazon? Like the Rong Fu extension cord company selling on Amazon can't just randomly print a UL on something that's been tested by anyone? Sure, if you buy something from Home Depot, McMaster.... or a legit retailer it does mean something. Otherwise, it's just hope for the best IMO.

It's probably fine.

The Chinese now steal each other's technology just like other countries used to do.

I had three, two Aickar brand and one Vepagoo. Both the Aickar jump packs swelled, which was a shame as they worked great. I never had an issue starting a vehicle with them. The Vepagoo one is still working just fine, it gets used fairly regularly too. Stick with a brand name, not the cheapo garbage like I did, and you should be fine. With that said, a big old SLA jump pack is nice as they provide a great source of 12v power for bench testing stuff. :)
