I did a search the best I could and didn't see any mention of the Lithonia 3348 (2 bulb T8 4') at Home Depot for $18.35 (Houston, TX).

Has anyone used it? Any comments? It says it's rated to 0 degrees F. I've found one review of it online and it says it doesn't hum. No word on RFI.

Any help would be greatlly appreciated.

We have (I think) the 8' equivalent of that fixture in our shop. It's just 4 4' bulbs to get an 8' light.

They're visible in post 12 on this thread:

We installed them in February, and they didn't give us any startup flicker with ambient temps in the 40's. Of course they took a few minutes to reach full brightness.

We've got a radio in the shop and I've not noticed any RFI, but we also don't listen to AM, which I believe is more susceptible to RFI.

We paid near to $50 each for these fixtures, but really need the baffles in our installation, which add to the price. Non-baffled fixtures, if I remember correctly, were about $38 each.

Overall, I'm satisfied. We run 2800 lumen tubes with a 85 color rendering index and 6500k color temperature. Light is somewhat "blue" but it is nice and crisp, at least to my old eyes.

Jim,
See which ballast is in it and do a Google search on the ballast number. I bought 2 similar fixtures at HD about a year ago and just replaced both ballasts within the last month :( When I did a Google on the ballast numbers it seems that they have a lot of problems. Hopefully the new GE ballasts I bought will last a little longer. All said and done, I would have been better off going to my local electrical supply house and getting a little more expensive fixture the first time :)

It's a decent product, but I looked at the reviews on the Home Depot site and several people mentioned the common problem with that style of fixture - the acrylic cover isn't very strong, and it's easy to crack if you're not careful when you put it on. As far as that goes, I've seen them come out of the box cracked. Also, it's a place to collect dust and dirt, so in a garage you'll probably have to take them off and clean them periodically.
