Lithonia 4k 70cri 30,0000 lumen

I am building a 40x60x12 shop and am looking for lights. I found someone on facebook selling 2 year old Lithonia IBH30000 high bays for $40 each. I was planning on having 3 rows of 5 lights. 2 rows hanging about 14ft and 1 row in the middle at about 18ft.

Would these be good for me? I am looking for general lighting for the shop. I will have a light over my workbenches and in front of my lift.

I am afraid these will be too much at 30,000 lumens. And I'm not sure what 70 cri really means.

Any advice?

70 cri means they will look like ****, IMO. That's color rendering index.

30k.lumens is way too much for 12' ceiling. They will be blinding

30000 Lumens is way too much for 12-14' mounting height, but at that price just throw a 0-10V dimmer on them and your good to go.

CRI = Color Rendering Index = how accurately artificial light replicates color in comparison to natural light. Scale is 0-100 with 100 being natural light. 80 CRI and above is good. 90 CRI is excellent. At 70 CRI colors will appear muted - especially reds which will have more of a brownish tint.

What CCT are they? CCT = correlated color temperature (color of light). 4000K and 5000K are good for workshops.

Do they have a lens? If not, I would not buy them as LEDs exposed to the elements get contaminated and will have significantly reduced life span.

Fixture spacing criteria matters = Distance between fixtures to attain even light distribution. 12' fixture spacing is ideal. The farther apart they are over 12', the less even your light distribution will be = more shadows & more uncomfortable area is to work in.

I dont know what CCT. Here is the picture of the tag. For some reason I cant open the spec sheet again.

I have 12ft walls with steel trusses. I will not be putting a true ceiling in. It will probably hang 14-16 feet on the sides and 18ft in the middle. I can install a dimmer.

I was planning on buying 15 commercial electric 2 ft 18000 lumen from home depot. We have 6 hanging at 13 feet at work and they look great to me other than they need to be higher.

The 40K in your part number likely means 4000K CCT.

Lithonia ibh series was pretty terrible in my opinion. Add to that fact these are a 30000 lumen and I think a medium distribution. Meaning these are not a good choice for a low 12-foot ceiling.

I have no experience with the Lithonia IBH series, so I yield to Bert and anyone else who does.
Medium distribution works fine for 12ft. Narrow will create hot spots and wide puts too much light on the walls.
