I have installed 3 out of 5 of these 4' T5HOs so far and I think I like them. This is in a 21' x 21' garage.
Ran out of time this weekend to finish the job (started after lunch today), but they are easy to install and give off a LOT of light. I think the box said something like 7900 lumens or so.
I was concerned the light might be overwhelming and harsh, but I think the diffusers help disperse the light and it seems pretty even. However I would not do more than 5 or 6 in this space, and you could easily get away with less than that.

Cost is quite a bit more than a T8 set up but they were out of anything decent in T8 and I like that these are lower profile and just 2 bulbs. To get anything equivalent in T8 you need at least a 3 bulb lamp.
Prior to this I had just one 300W bulb. 5 of these will be 540 watts total so just a 240W increase, but the amount of light seems like 100 times better!
My ceilings are 9ft and painted white. T8s are a better value and there are more choices, but if you are looking for a lot of light from a relatively compact fixture these T5HOs might be the ticket. I have a lot of junk stored suspended from my ceiling so ceiling space is pretty scarce!
One nice detail (maybe this is more common these days?) is they have push in type plug connectors so I stripped like 3/8" off the 14/2 wire and inserted... done! I also picked up some extra push in style connectors instead of wire nuts, they seem pretty slick.
This pic makes them look pretty bad, but trust me they are good. This just gives you some idea of what they look like mounted.
