Lithonia T8 troffer - deal or no?

Lithonia T8 Troffer.

Stopped by the local Dirt Cheap. Closeout store, has some Grainger returns........but stacks of this light from Lithonia.. 3YA14 Its a T8 recessed troffer light. They are all in unopened boxes.

The are 60 percent off.....$23.00....so $9 something.

Grainger price is $23.00 but other sites has them listed as a $100.00 plus light.

It's a good deal, but just a few things to be aware of:

1) Those aren't IC rated, so you can't use them in an insulated ceiling (without building a drywall box around them).

2) They are meant to go in drop ceilings w/a 24" grid. If you are putting this into a garage ceiling without a drop ceiling you will most likely run into 2 issues. First, most trusses are 24" on center, not between centers, so if that's the case then these won't fit. Secondly, they don't have a drywall flange on them, so you'd have to get creative on how to mount them and trim them out.

well.......I guess things worked out. Went back and a guy had his entire pickup truck loaded with them. None left.

I'll think positive.......it saved me from some extra work.

Anyone in southalabama and mississippi and has Dirt Cheap stores....looks like they selling some Grainger overstocks.
