Hey guys, Have a quick question. I acquired a craftsman compressor from work. It is the model number 919.184192 (60 gallon, 240 volt model). The compressor has a freshly rebuilt head when it was under warranty, new electric control and new tubing.

My question is; how much SAE 30 oil do these take? In the user manual I downloaded, it shows a "T" plug at the drain of the head, and it states to fill until oil is even with the top of the "T". However, the model I have has a just a drain plug, and next to it is a sight glass with a dot in the center. From my experience you fill the oil until it reaches the dot on the sight glass.

I added 1.5 quarts into the head and the sight glass is still dry. The oil is actually even with the fill hole on the side of the head, meaning there is too much in it. I figured it I tried to turn the pulley by hand it would maybe go down into the crank, but no luck..... any ideas?

Thanks,
Rafal

Start by looking for an owner's manual and filling it according to that. If that fails, your guess of using the dot in the sight glass might be your next best choice.

All the user manuals I found online do no state how much oil should be used, and the filling procedure is different from what I'm working with as stated above. I cannot add anymore oil into it as the level is already even with the filling hole...
