Good feedback, y'all.

The 17" is perfect for my household needs, and the small amount of storage space it takes up is a much-needed feature.

Might have to check out that Menard's option...

And I'm in absolutely no rush.

I have the 26’ version of this ladder from Menards. In case you didn’t know Keller = Werner. Same company. I’m very happy with mine and you can use all the Werner accessories with it, so that’s good.

Right now with the 11% off sale the 17’ is $132.61

I have 2 knockoffs, one from Lowe’s and another from HF, bit heavy but for $119 they are pretty good...I couldn’t make myself pay $300 for the little giant... if I had to use it everyday it might be a different story but for home users that only use it twice a year or so, the knockoffs is fine.

I have both a Little Giant and a Warner. Both are pretty heavy but I like the locks on the LG a lot better because they engage the rung holes better coming down. I mostly break them out when I have a slope or stairs to work with. No substitute for that handy trick. Most my ladders are fiberglass but hard to beat aluminum if you do much cutting or welding on it. Ed.

I have that 26' foot version, along with an older Cosco 17'. The 26' is great for getting to tall things, but holy hell is it unwieldy, especially when in extension mode.

I bought the Gorilla brand when HD clearanced them, mostly due to me being 250lb and all the other ladders rated for less. Note 17 ft isn't the size of the ladder, its what they "expect" a person can reach standing on the highest safe rung. Now I look for a 22, same style.

I have the Werner, probably bought it in the early 2000's. The one thing people leave out about these ladders is you can step through the top. Meaning you can straddle the ladder and put feet on both sides. This is how I use this ladder 90% of the time. The best thing I did was put white lithium grease on the slide pins. It is a handy size for gutter cleaning and painting.

Thought the folding multi-articulating ladders were a gimmick.

Bought one a bunch of years ago (Lowes or Home Depot probably). It is a 'heavy-duty' aluminum one. Class 1A, so I can use it and actually carry something (tools, supplies, lunch :D ) up with me. Four 'sections' that can fold into different positions (straight, V, W, offset for on some stairs, scaffold-type, etc), not a 'slide' type.

It is not a gimmick and is handy.

I would probably buy that same model again, depending on the price.

Check and look (if possible) at the specific model(s) you are considering.

Last year I saw some German electrician working on a store lighting addition. They all used a slick rig dimple and cheap. It’s just a wooden step ladder with no center bracket. It’s just a short line where the bracket goes maybe 18” long.
They straddled it and were walking all over the place with them doing fixtures on a 12’ ceiling. They worked like the stilts I’ve seen them use here. They looked way cheaper, more comfortable and easier to use. Pretty neat

I tried one of those and hated it. Constantly felt like my hands were in imminent danger and it really wasn't flexible as an A frame. The newer style with sliding extensions are much more versatile.

I bought the Little Giant Leveler 22 from Lowes during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales last year for $159. I find it very useful around the house and would certainly buy another. I love that I have the usefulness of several ladders but only need to find storage space for one.

I have used a Little Giant for over 30 years. I would have to check the ink stamped date codes on it to be sure. I assUme it is the Classic model. It cost a lot back when I bought it, but I don't regret it. It is heavy, but has uses that nothing else will do. I just used it at its lowest height with me on one side and my daughter on the other to put up lights in the garage. I am sure we were well over its design capacity, but no problem. It is the proverbial brick outhouse.

Extending it is a learning curve that relies on balance more than strength. Once you learn the trick to balance the pieces it is easy to handle, and strong as bull.

I can see it’s mostly pure love or hate thing with these. it’s got utility if you don’t have a lot of storage or own the usual proper ladders like on a service truck.

Professionals probably don't like them because they are heavy and they are a little like a swiss army knife - you have to set them up for every job.

Homeowners love them because they are versatile and don't take up a lot of space.

It seem like those who shell out the money for Little Giant like them - It's like the Honda Generator thread - everything is compared to whether it's as good as the Little Giant - how good is good enough for you?

I bought the 22ft version back in 2005. I love mine. I like the fact I only need one ladder to do many things. It is heavy, but extremely handy. I remember taking it with me to help my friend build a garage. Everyone there kind of smirked and joked when I placed it down. Then we went to work and guess which ladder was used the most because it was the perfect size whether it was used as an A frame or extension ladder. My friend asked me to leave it for a few days and he would return it.

I will mirror these comments. Mine is the revolution that allows uneven areas to set up. I bought mine through Zoro during a percentage off event.

I've owned a lot of ladders and this little giant is the perfect size for a-frame use and getting on my 18 foot roof.

Heavy as hell but the versatility makes it my best ladder purchase.

I've had my Little Giant Alta One (22ft) for about 6 years now and love it. I paid $150 for it at Sears when it was on sale. I also have a couple of the work platforms and they work very well too.

I saw this photo and it made me think of this thread. Any idea what kind of ladders they are using on this B1B Bomber? :)

I bought a Vulcan brand one for $50, then I bought the little giant ladder platform. Works great together.

I bought a 3ft little giant for my service van about 15 years ago...325.00 from grainger.. couple days later I bought a 3ft gorilla ladder for 50 bucks from home depot and returned the little giant. I used that ladder to change a light bulb over the stairway at my girlfriends, she kept that ladder. Walked into home depot a few months later and they had 2 5ft ladders on clearence for 25.00 and like a dumass I only bought 1!! Been using it for 15 years now, love that thing. Mine came with braces to make it into a scaffold.

A few years ago, Home Depot ran the Warners on sale for $100. I bought two, one for me and one for my oldest son. My only complaint is the weight. Dang these things are heavy!

I bought a Gorilla Ladders 18ft multi position ladder similar to the little giant for 90 bucks on sale, normally 160 I think. It's a bit heavy but it's pretty nice. Can't compare to a little giant because I haven't used them. Not sure how it could be worth triple the price of what I paid though.

Do you really need this type of ladder? I have one and it's just a bit of a pain to use due to weight. Yes, it effectively does the job of three ladders, but if you only need 1 in the first place, why bother?

I got a Revolution when they were USA made. I wish I got the more $$$ lightweight one at the time... and the leg jacks or levelers or whatever they call them.

But, seriously, for a normal step ladder, it's pretty cumbersome. For an extension ladder, it's sketchy as frig. The joint in the middle doesn't have much play, but when your 200lbs self us up at the other end, it does not feel very stiff. Did I also mention it's heavy, so it's a big tricky to move around...

An extension ladder does not fit in my 3 series BMW. I agree, though, that if I had an extension ladder where I needed one, it would be preferable. I do have step ladders at several properties and those. I have used them on stairs before and that is a nice feature, though not needed very often. I’d like to get a 26 if I find one on sale for maybe $159. I have a couple of 22s and a 13. The weights vary among brands. I have a Gorilla and a Werner and am not sure the brand of the other one.

For an extension ladder either hit a BlackFriday sale or Face book marketplace / Craig’s List. Aluminum ladders never wear out and people are always moving just watch the plastic parts Mine is from the 60s works fine as long as I tape an old sock on the sharp uppers

I have two of the werners 13 foot I believe. They have been extremely useful while putting the shop together. I use the pic between them to cover longer distances. Heavy yes but they don’t travel by hand. On the other side the came home in a Honda Fit. How many ladders can fit inside this car.
