I have no idea when and where I picked this 1/4" case up or what was in it at the time. I've used it for years to store what you see now.
Any help dating it would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Nice box. I have several with the embossed / debossed pattern on the lid, but the paint and labels are long gone.

I'd put it in the immediate-post-war period.
What him say!

Sometime after the exclusive contract with NB era Long C "(H)" and "BE" but before the exclusive contract with MDF era = CRAFTSMAN = V =, in that strange transition period when they were using multiple suppliers and multiple hybrid markings.
I have several with the embossed / debossed pattern on the lid, but the paint and labels are long gone.
Note that they used a similar clamshell with a similar em/debossed pattern during the Heritage era. The Heritage box is a tad bigger and that em/debossed pattern is a little smaller. Not suggesting you don't have several Long C era boxes. Just in case you have not dated yours yet.
