I noticed there's a little screw on every adjustable wrench I own, but I don't know what's it's meant to do. I this for adjusting the little wheel or so? I don't use those wrenches much, so I don't know lots about them...

Thanks in the advance

Its the pin on which the thumb wheel spins.
Remove that screw only if you have to remove the thumb wheel.

Take one out and find out. :D

If you remove that screw, you can take the movable jaw and the thumbwheel off. I've done that on a couple of old rusty ones to clean it up make them move again. Getting them torqued back in just right seems to take a little trial and error or maybe just more practice.

Ill admit it, both adjustables and ratchets have been used as hammers on my end, not a proud moment, but when you are in a arial lift, and you physically cannot bend down to pick up the correct tool, you do what ya gotta do.

Thanks for being honest. I'm sure a lot of people do that for odd reasons (but they wont admit it here :p)

A lot of times the hole that the little screw is inside of is peened over so that the screw can not back all the way out or fall out if it becomes loose. You might have to grind/file/drill the end of the hole a little to get the screw out if you want to remove it.

Yeah, I'll use anything as a hammer.

I have a disassembled and cleaned adjustable wrench soaking in ATF right now. I'll post a picture of it for you later so you can see what everyone's talking about.

I am surprised the OP didn't just take it apart while inspecting it. I think it's safe to say most of us on here are damn good at taking things apart!

I didn't say anything about putting them back together. :lol_hitti
