Live Garage Cam

Hi all, I just set up a live video cam for my garage. It works no problem, but it is stationary. I want to sit it on or strap it to an oscillating table, so the camera will go back and forth (panning) the garage. I thought of using an oscillating fan taken apart, but I would really like to just buy something. There must be some display table like thingy I can buy. Any ideas?

The camera is set up for motion detection. If it senses motion, it instantly emails me a 5 second video (mpg) of the motion. I can then choose the log into the camera and view whats going on. Just playing aound. I think the camera distance from the wireless access point is at maximum. I will have to either get a signal booster or relocate the Router.

Ahhh gotcha...wouldnt it be pertanent or also have one outside too....because if someone had time to get in.....most likely they had time to grab something and run....so having an outside camera can get them before they get in....I am genius

Yes, I have one outside as well. If someone comes in my driveway, I get mail! Its the coolest. They even have sound!

Work for me. However, only see a shot of one of your cars and some kinda music in the background.

I was actually going to do the same thing as you. There is no easy/cheap way to do a pan (/tilt/zoom) setup unless you have a more expensive camera with the builtin motor for movement.

Or you could just get another cam and aim it the opposite direction so the whole area is covered

I beleive that if you take a cam as such and make it move it will detect movement all the time there for you would be constant email of movement from it. You would have to leave it still for it to detect movement properly.

I am using wireless devices and the garage is just too far for a good signal. It is sitting on my porch now pointing at my front door. I will be turing off until I get a wire or better signal out to the garage.

We also did a showroom cam that has the ability to pan and tilt. Unfortuneately there is nothing cool to look at in our showroom...

The really big pitful of having a moving garage cam is showing thieves an inventory of what is inside the garage. And if you think that you are protected and you are showing something they want...they will have it. Maybe I'm different but I think a garage cam for people on the net to see is not too good of an idea although it is a neat concept.

That is for sure....good idea of pointing that out to people....I think if your going to have one...it should be outside the garage door

getting a bit paranoid about the security there...I have a garage cam on when I play in the garage so others in the club can see what is going on with my restoration (been off for a month since I have not worked on the car ) But I have pics of my various cars all over the net and in most of them they are in the garage or the garage is in the background so if someone wants to rip me off all they need to do is look at the car pictures, the web cam is just confirmation. Most of you I bet, have pics of your cars on the net and also your garage in the background.

Then again, I work from home so I am home everyday and also in a good neighborhood with several nosy soccer moms so a good lock, a noisy dog and I am happy.

not saying its impossible but not something I would worry about either.

I am still all for having a mean viscous dog in the garage to guard your stuff....heck get 2...and they should be potty trained so they do not use the restroom all over the place

A BMW actually. A 1981 BMW M1. You're forgiven for thinking it was a Lamborghini. The M1 was designed by the same guy that designed Lambos for a long time (Giuargio-something) and the M1 was initially built by Lamborghini (then switched to a company in Germany).
