Living room floor?

Hi all,

We are about to do some renovations at home & one of things that will be done is the floor in the living room & kitchen. The floor we have now is over a concrete slab & I like the idea of having the concrete polished but the lady of the house thinks it only looks good in a warehouse style home & will not look good here.

This one of the timber floors she has in mind (I also like it) but I think polished concrete will look awesome.

I'm asking for some thoughts & ideas about this.

Cheers.

Check into staining. My daughter's in-laws had it done and it looks fantastic ! It might not be your cup of tea.

Concrete is going to be COLD.

Only gets down to around 10 degrees (50 fahrenheit) here in the winter so I'm not worried about it being cold. I know the timber will be warmer in the winter.

:see:

Unless you want to hear about it forever, go with a good compromise!

Besides, you certainly wont save any money doing it your way!

Yeah I'm worried about her not liking it.

It's not about the money. I just want the place to look awesome.

Here is a photo she found online of what she wants.

I like this timber floor but for some reason I also like polished concrete.
I guess I want the opinion from you guys about this.

Not thinking about keeping the lady happy what style do you like?
Would you have polished concrete in your home or not?

I have seen a home with polished stained concrete and it really felt hard and cold. Pratical if you have pets and kids. There are many brands of timber look products out there. Some vinyl, some laminate and some wood. I would consider that than the concrete.

I like this. Is it laminate or ceramic? Real wood wouldn't be very durable or easy upkeep.
