Lizards Invading SC Garage

@quadrcr87 we live in the TR area too, just off Roe Ford Rd. We have skinks in the yard, but rarely in the garage. When they get in the garage I catch them if I can and relocate them to outside. Otherwise they just roam around and eventually get out.
I admit my door is not open often since the garage is climate controlled for my wood shop, but there are enough gaps for them to use.

I sit when it's not hot with the garage door open. I have a pest control company treat the garage, the screened porch and the inside/outside of the house quarterly. I seldom see critters or varmints in btw treatments and if I do they return for free.

I also have 4 indoor cats who have never had an issue with what they use.

Update- I now welcome the lizards and want more of them. I need to control the black widow population! This one I found by my front door was huge.

Rocket Pest Control (they have gobbled up most of the local better quality pest control companies and employees in the Greenville County area) can take care of that for you, along with my original suggestion, as just like before, the spiders will move on to greener pastures if there is nothing for them to feed on. Again, I am speaking from 10+ years of experience in your backyard (close enough).

Thanks Bill. We already use Rocket Pest control. They spray inside and out a couple of times a year and maintain our termite bond. I’m sure it helps but there are just a lot of insects in our area.

Weird that this thread popped up. I'm in Washington state. In 50+ years of living here I've never once seen a lizard anywhere near my house. Yesterday I almost stepped on one in my garage.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I don't have any recommendations- just a shout-out to my TR neighbors. We're in the woods up in Tigerville, and have all sorts of creepy crawlies. None of them bother me, and the black widows don't seem to come into the buildings.

On top of their services, I typically lay down a granular (spectracide) bug killer with my Scotts rotary walk behind. My logic is simple, create a barrier 15-20 (I do 50 feet when I can) feet wide around the house, so the bugs that do get close are dead or dying by the time they reach the garage and/or foundation. Occasionally I see a Palmeto bug in the new garage, but they are usually 1-2 feet in and already upside down. Nothing gets in the house unless it flies in when we have a door open. I do a quarterly treatment a day or two after the service comes in. Usually a few hours or a day before it is supposed to rain, as it is supposed to be watered in for maximum results. Is it a chore, sure, but if you keep up with it on a regular basis, you won't have the issues you are currently experiencing.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I will leave them alone but I do plan to do some sealing to keep the bugs out. First time living this far south so I wasn’t used to having these little guys around.
-First time living this far South? General rule is don't put your hand/fingers where you can't clearly see. You also need to look up an be able to identify the Brown Recluse as it's probably in your area too and some consider it worse than the Black Widow. You may also have small scorpions inside the garage, they aren't really dangerous but will leave a burning area at the sting location. Lizards and rat snakes are ok, look up what's dangerous. Welcome to Southern living.
