LM8500 Wall Controller Failure.

This is an OLD Thread, but I removed a Liftmaster Garage Door Opener several years ago because of the controller.

That was my first and last Liftmaster.

One of my 888LM controllers let go today. My wife heard it open and the controller had no light on it. Controller would not close door and you could hear it making an odd noise, like a sizzle. Luckily I had read this thread when it all was being uncovered and had reached out and had two replacement 888LM controllers ready to go. Replaced with the new controller, that has a purple dot on the box, and all is well. Well, after deleting the old one from the app, adding the new one, reprogramming the truck, and some remotes.

scare thing, as others, I got no notification of the door opening my phone like I normally do. Had she not heard it the door would have just sat open. I looked at the board and could see no signs of fried parts.

Now thinking I may just swap out the other one since I have a replacement on hand.

My LM 8500's electric eyes stopped working (no LED's on either) so the door would work unless I head the button on the controller down. I purchased a couple of eyes from Amazon but that didn't fix the issue and the eyes from Amazon were good. The trouble shooting sites I've found said if that didn't fix it then the logic board needed to be replaced. I've ordered a logic board from LM that isn't fixing the issue either. The 2 eyes are still not lighting up at all. What else could it be?

Can you disconnect the wires running to the led transmiitters and check for voltage after activating the controller? Maybe a wire is broken, creating an open connection.
