Load bearing cap. for floor?

Figuring out a shed and trying to figure how big to run for floor joists?

I am guessing 2x8 will work, but I can't find info on actual #s.

16x16 floor and I'll support it in the middle.

I don't know exact weight, but planning on at least 3000lbs between the tractor, toys, air compressor and other junk.

Look up lumber span tables.

The tables won't tell you the load bearing capacity. They'll tell you what is permissible spacing for a given size of lumber over a certain span.

2x8's on 16" o.c. should be fine. Use a minimum 3/4" sheathing (ACQ plywood will last longest) fastened with ACQ resistant screws.

+1 What BooUrns said. I used 2X6 for my 8X12 shed with a center support and 3/4 plywood decking and it's fine.

The span tables worked backwards work just fine. Sometimes one must look beyond the obvious.
