Hello everyone, first post here so I apologize if this is misplaced. But long story short, just purchased a new home that came with this garage, and I'm planning on doing a full overhaul. I'm pretty good with tools and electrical work (I work in industrial maintenance) but I've never done any residential work on anything. There is a wall that separates the two bays of the garage, and I would love to open everything up but I'm not one to rip down first/ask later. The wall goes the same way as the rafters, but I just wasn't sure if because of the garage's legnth if it provided any structural purposes. I'll post some pictures, let me know what you guys think

Thanks!
Matt

it is not a load bearing wall as shown, it would seem to have been placed to create a separate room. It also seems that someone has doubled (sistered) the rafters for extra strength. If it had been designed as load bearing there would have been some tie in with the rafters, using the wall to support a group or all the rafters.

Thanks for the replies, thats kind of what i was thinking too, but now you guys can be the scapegoat for the girlfriend if anything goes wrong ;) and that car is a big part of why I wanted the garage space a haha. It's a fiberfab banshee body, to go on on mga chassis I have prepped next to it. It's going to need some fiberglass body work, but I figure I can get her running up to there. Worst case if the body repair is too much I'll turn her back room an mga. Gotta love gull wings hahahah

That shouldn't be a load bearing wall but where are you located? The reason I'm asking is that the building has some kind of sketchy framing and fairly new rafters sistered to the originals and I'm wondering if the wall was part of a poorly executed effort to fix a sagging roof. If you're in an area where snow load is a concern I'd be investigating that further.
