Load Center\Electrical Panel Mounting in Pole Barn

Hi All,

Recently put up a 40x56 pole barn in Iowa. Currently working on getting power to the shop sub-feed from house with 100 amp service. I've completed the trenching and have a 2" conduit entering the building from below grade. I have added 2x6" girts on the inside of the post (similar to the girts on the outside of the post to which the steel is fastened) which i plan to hang a large 3/4" peice of plywood to mount the load center. I went this way in case i plan to insulate in the future. My question, what is the cleanest way to route wiring from the load center to lights, outlets, etc? Simply come off the plywood and run behind the post on top of girts or up the side of posts to light fixtures? Any pics of your setup would be appreciated.

Flush mount your panel inside your new wall. Run the wires up out of the top of the panel to the attic within the wall as you would any regular wall.

Here's mine. Sure you will lose some insulation depth at the actual panel but keeping your wires safe in the wall is desirable.

Thanks for the reply and pictures. Very nice shop. How did the cost compare on stud walls and OSB compared to tin? If I do insulate down the road, I was thinking of using 8ft blanket style insulation and ribbed tin. Interested in hearing other options, anyone else have their experience to share?

That is not allowed in a residential building. Must be conduit up to the height of the ceiling, even if there is no ceiling ! Conduit must be secured. Romex must secured within code limit of exiting the conduit. Individual wires must always be in conduit.
