Hi guys, I recall a thread not long ago where someone said they used a hard rubber loading dock bumper for a vice stand. I've tried searching the forum and am having no luck finding it.
The use of a heavy loading dock bumper for a vice stand seems like a desirable application for me if it works. Although I just recently purchased a work bench which would make a decent mounting surface, the ability to move the vice around would be a big plus. I actually would probably use my vice more in the field if I could just throw it in my truck if convenient. I have a liftgate with a flat metal surface and is now my favorite workbench when the weather is favorable.
However, I could see a loading dock bumper stand being rather unstable when used with longer pipe, etc. Perhaps if it is large enough surface area it would work.
Anyway, has anyone tried this, or some other semi portable vice mount solution?
Thanks for any helpful input.
