Hi Guys,
Spotted an ad go up this week on Kijiji (Bigger than CL around here) for a 'Eron' bench vise, didn't have any pics or details aside from saying it was an estate sale, it wasn't too far so I thought I'd check it out.

I did a search on here and only found one other Eron come up, they appear to be a record clone and made in Japan. This was was in good shape, not hammered on, free turning, and looked to have been mounted for a long time (I had to pull it off the bench myself).

I have a Record No 5 right now I haven't started restoring yet, and thought it might be cool to have a smaller clone and for $5 how could I say no to this. It weighs in right at 11lbs.

Anyone have any history on Eron? It looks like they are still in business in Japan but found reference to the newer ones now being made in China. Anyone else seen one of these?

I think this is one of those times when you buy a new car and it's a cool color you've never seen before only to pull up next to the identical match the next week. I just picked up a 6" Eron again on Kijiji locally. Had to part with $10 this time, it weighs in at 71lbs.

This one is a little rougher, but now I know if I can't find new screws for the jaws on any of my vises, I should just weld 'em on and repaint it with baby blue latex.

FWIW, you both got some great deals. I paid $35 for a Eron some years back and found it to be a good quality home shop vise. Much better than the Chicom boat anchors.
