I'm looking for a closed quick connect tire inflation chuck that will work without the valve stem core in place. Do these exist or will I need to get an open type and connect it to a lever operated inflator. I have a Coats 10 10 without any tire inflator and would like to set beads without the valve stem core in place.

Don't ask.
I removed the valve "post" from a locking air chuck. It now flows a lot more air than before. I also connected it to a 1/4 turn ball valve to control the air flow.

I don't get it. You want a closed chuck that works without a valve core.
How do you expect the missing valve core to push the pin and open the chuck?

You do get it but looks like what I want doesn't exist. Will have to make one up with an open chuck and a 1/4 turn ball valve.

Having the core in can make the difference in getting the bead to seal sometimes.

Oh, absolutely, but it is the core that opens up the chuck.
Bicycle pumps use a different type of air chuck that is fixed open with a pin that opens the schrader valve. I suppose you could gut a core out and set up something with just the pin to open up the chuck, but for seating a bead, that will still not flow like an open chuck coreless schrader valve and ball valve for air control.

I happen to be looking for the same exact thing: a locking flow through (no valve core) air chuck for beading tires.

I wonder if I can connect one end of a short whip hose to the chuck below, then hook up a female air fitting to the other end, add another male air fitting to the female end. When using it, first lock the chuck onto valve stem, then connect the male fitting on the other end of short hose to female fitting of hose coming off the compressor and use that as a connect/disconnect?

get a vertical type that is a replacement for a tire machine, like this:

if the intent is to seat the bead, this item really works great http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-5-Gallo...:g:NeMAAOSwq7JUI6l7&item=271615179659&vxp=mtr

A friend had one that he paid north of 150.00, bought mine in ebay for less than 50.00, it was made in Germany, I use it all the time even bought one for my son. No more tire wraps etc, big tire on big rim, not a problem heck even use it when a lawn mower tire bead breaks. One of the best tools I own.

There's also the much more fun method of spraying a little ether into the tire and throwing a lit match at it...

I personally just bought a locking air chuck, took it apart and removed the pin, to use on my tire machine while seating tire beads. Now I can be 3 feet away while seating the bead (much safer!).
The chuck that I bought was THIS one... but I paid ~$10 Canadian
