Looking to build (cheaply) some cabs and drawers for my 7x14 encl trailer. What is a good (cheap - currently not working so costs need to be directed wisely) way to build a stack of drawers that will survive the rigours of hauling on rough and hilly roads for a few years, the carefree exuberance of a 7 yr old and remain closed in transit?

Look at how toolboxes and other cabinets are done.
A locking system, a security bar across the front, or individual locks

The security bar is the cheapest and ugliest.
A locking system is the nicest looking but is the most complicated

So you need drawer glides? I have 16'' and 24" I can make you a deal on

Service van drawers have a hinge-flap down one side, when you flip it it catches just the end of each drawer so they can't move.

This is the best picture I could find, see the piano hinge on the left side?

I've done in the past, piano hinge to some steel flat stock with the top bent on a 90*. Clevis pin acted as the lock. Work great in our 32' trailer. That trailer went up and the east coast, never had a issue with the drawers opening up.

I like the piano hinge idea, and might be the simplest, depending how I slap together the cabs.

Bob, send me the skinny on the 16" glides, would you please?
