They are kinda nice for large or heavy rings, keeps them from flying away when you bump them on the way out. Never used any small ratcheting ones. Big ones we have are OTC with interchangeable straight or 90 tips.
for big rings how about the KD kdt2012 twisty style? They used to make a smaller size but I can't seem to locate one. Used one for years - I like the style better than pliers for many applications.
