Hey guys, I want to buy a set of flex head ratcheting wrenches but have heard the heads on them get floppy so now I'm thinking would buying a set of locking flex head ratcheting wrenches be better? Are there any cons with the locking ones?

I don't really care about the open ends as I'm planning on buying a set of Wright Grips later on so would be better if they were double box end but I don't think I've even seen double box end locking flex head ratcheting wrenches before. Can someone please recommend me a good set of these kinds of wrenches? Assuming they even exist.

I'm looking to spend no more than $200 CAD and I don't need 20 different sizes, a few common ones would do. Also, I don't want those really long handle ones either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have both locking and non-locking versions. I greatly prefer the non-locking. The locking ones are super floppy when not locked and I often bump them from locked to un-locked. It’s very rare that the lock is actually a advantage. If I lost my set of locking flex heads I wouldn’t replace them.

Since I assume your in Canada I would look at these. They are the same as the gear wrench wrenches which are quite good, especially for the price.

They look pretty nice but I think they would cost a lot to ship here.

Don't non locking ones eventually start flopping around too though? I read reviews from people complaining about bumping the mechanism on the locking ones as well which *****. And yah I saw that set and was going to pick it up but backed out cause I was worried they would eventually get floppy.

Some locking ones are pretty bulky.
I like these: https://sptoolsusa.com/collections/...g-gear-drive-wrench-sets-flex-head-metric-8pc

They're not perfect as there isn't an 18mm size available and they're not exactly cheap.
I also like these:

The only drawback to these is that there's no fixed boxed end.
I actually prefer the non locking style.

I don't care for the VIM set pictured in post#2 because, it omits 16 & 18 mm and the wrenches lack a fixed boxed end. They're pretty close though to being a nice set. :wtf:

First set is too expensive and has fixed ends. The 2nd is interesting but don't really get the point of that design. Also, why do you want a fixed end on these wrenches? They are not like the long handle aviation ones which make sense having a fixed end to break bolts loose but I doubt the box ends on these will be that useful considering you won't be able to get much leverage on them anyways.
This is the set I would get if I needed any, but I'm sure glad I don't need them! :bounce:
I can't afford these lol.
