Loft on garage

My garage is 28' wide and I got loft built 28' x 10'

Our builder used 16" x 2" manufactured beam across w/o center support (that I was wanting no center support)

He have 8" x 2" cross beams 12" apart

Do you fellows think I still need a center support under beam ??

so you have a 16x2 beam spanning 28ft with 8x2 floor joists running 10ft back to the wall?
If that's the case I would want two 16x2 beams nailed together. or a center support.

How much weight is going on the loft?

Go to your nearest lumber yard and ask them if that particular beam is designed for that span along with carrying a live load. I'm guessing no but you never know.

16 x 2 is some type of manufactured beam (clued type) (Not like 2 x 16 pine wood) I don't know other name for it

I will use loft as storage so there will be weight on it but no engine block or like that more house hold items and some paper etc. and later as man cave

I think I'll go ask them local guys and if nothing else I can always add 2 x 12 on side of it and nailed in together

Yep this is exactly what I have but like I said is some type manufactured beam

Most likely an LVL or parallam , google them to see the difference, then check with the
lumber yard for the span rating. Most likely would at minimum need to be doubled, with
2 by lumber under both to the foundation. I would also want to know what is holding up the back of the 2 by 8s.
