Logging Out But Still Logged In

Just a little while ago I came to this site and started to log-in. I saw that I was logged-in. I logged-out on my last visit which was probably on Tuesday. The page came up where it says "all cookies cleared" and asks if you'd like to return to your last viewed page. It also shows that you are logged-out. This is not the first time this has happened on this site and it only happens on this site. I logged-out 3 days ago and today I'm still logged-in. I'm assuming I've been logged-in for 3 days.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

maybe your password is stored in your browser.

That should not matter. My browser stores all of my passwords but once you log out you should have to log back in when you return to the site.

I just tried it and it worked ok for me. I logged out, went to a few other sites and when I came back here I had to log back in.

Absolutely the way it should work but does not.

Whatever comes with Windows 7. I'm not much of a computer person.

Probably Windows Explorer. I have it on this computer too so I tried it and it worked fine for me there also ?

I normally use Firefox.

Not sure what is going on unless there is a setting in Explorer to automatically log you if you want.

Is that still supported by Microsoft ? What are you using for a anti-virus ? Hoping nobody has hacked your computer and recording keystrokes or whatever they do.

Have you have any other strange events on your 'puter ?

I think they stopped supporting it in January. I have McAfee virus protection. The only odd thing that's been happening lately is when I click on something the mouse clicks twice instead of once. Example: If I'm on page 3 of a thread and click to go back, it sometimes goes back to page 1 instead of 2. This happens when I'm closing out tabs also. I may click on one to close it and 2 or 3 may close unless I click very fast and only once. That's a pain but I haven't seen anything else unusual.

It is stored. When I log-in here as soon as I type a "b" my username appears and when I click on it my password is automatically entered in the box. Good thing too since I don't know what it is and would have to look it up:).

I don't think I should be logged-in though after I've logged-out. It doesn't happen every time but it does happen.

I think I figured out why this was happening. With the way the mouse has been working recently I have to left-click extremely fast and only once or it'll click on what's next to or under what I'm clicking on. I logged-out a week ago and saw what happened: I clicked on "log out" but not fast enough and it then clicked again on the "support the garage journal" header. That must've been the reason I wasn't logged-out as I wasn't this time either.

I finally asked a tech at work and he said that my mouse is probably dirty inside (making an extended "click") and that I should blow it out as best as I can and see if that helps.

I did and it didn't so I bought a new mouse. It seems the problem is gone now.

Glad to hear your problem is solved. I recently put a new mouse in service as the "right-click" button wasn't working properly. I would have figured the "left-click" would have died first.
